Judge calls child porn 'disgusting'

February 18, 2010

Court of Queen's Bench Justice Ged Hawco was expected on Wednesday to sentence Giuseppe Antonio Secreti, 34, who pleaded guilty to both charges Tuesday. Calling the images disgusting, Hawco wants the lawyers back in court today to justify their argument for the two-year sentence.

"I want you to come back again and give me further reasons why I should accept this joint submission," Hawco told Crown prosecutor Jenny Rees and defence lawyer Tonii Roulston. "I have to tell you, I am disturbed by the photographs. All the children, I'd say, are six to eight years. They depict images that are nothing less than disgusting. I'm concerned with the two years."

Secreti was nabbed after trading child porn with an undercover police officer in New York over two years ago.

During a search of Secreti's home on May 27, 2008, Calgary police found 374,238 pornographic images, 5,316 of them child porn, as well as 1,676 videos -- 49 involving child porn.
