The Importance of Breakfast for Children

Good and healthy breakfast for children wisll affect their activities for the day. An Analysis of the Scientific Research entitled “Impact of School Breakfast on Children’s Health and Learning” by Dr. J. Larry Brown (Harvard School of Public Health), Dr. William H. Beardslee (Harvard Medical School), and Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith (Harvard School of Public Health) concludes this study as follows:

“serving children breakfast at school significantly improves their cognitive or mental abilities, enabling them to be more alert, pay better attention, and to do better in terms of reading, math and other standardized test scores. Children getting breakfast at school also are sick less often, have fewer problems associated with hunger, such as dizziness, lethargy, stomachaches and ear aches, and do significantly better than their peers who do not get a school breakfast in terms of cooperation, discipline and inter-personal behaviors. “[1]

We have a program to provide breakfast for children at school. Our goal for 2009 is to raise (this amount of money) to help children have a nutritious and healthy breakfast so that they are well-nourished and ready to learn.
